Cumin

Cumin (Cuminum cyminum) is a small delicate annual plant of the parsley family. The cumin seed has a striped pattern of nine ridges and oil canals, and is hairy, brownish in colour, and tapered at each end. The cumin seed is often mistaken for the caraway seed, however cumin has a stronger, more pungent and slightly bitter flavour. Black cumin seed is similar in shape, but darker brown in colour.
